Meet the Man in the Shed
Rough Beginnings G'day, I’m Anthony, but most folks call me Vando. I’ve always been a hands-on bloke, working as a tradie until my life got flipped upside down by a nasty car smash back in 2015. My back took a real beating, and for a while there, I wasn't sure what the future looked like. After years of hard work in rehab, I didn't just find my strength again—I found a new love for salvaged Australian timber. Woodworking became my way of getting back on my feet, literally and mentally.
Now, I spend my days in the workshop turning old, reclaimed wood into something special. Whether I’m making a big piece of furniture or one of my signature handcrafted boards right here in Tambo Upper, I put my heart into it. Using recycled timber means every piece has its own history and a bit of grit, much like me. When you buy something from my shop, you’re getting something sturdy, honest, and built to last a lifetime. I’m just a simple maker who cares about doing the job right. Take a look around and see what I’ve been working on lately—I reckon you’ll find something that would look great in your home.

How It All Started
I’m Anthony, though most call me Vando. My journey with wood began in a small garage, fueled by a genuine love for the texture and scent of Australian timber. What started as a hobby eventually grew into a professional trade on the NSW Central Coast, where I crafted custom furniture from salvaged hardwoods.
A Bump in The Road
Life took an unexpected turn after a serious car accident left me with significant spinal injuries. Suddenly, the active lifestyle and craft I loved were out of reach. It was a challenging period, forcing me to rediscover my identity outside of physical labor.
The Long Way Back
Recovery was a slow road involving multiple surgeries and years of grueling physical therapy. It wasn't an easy path, but it taught me the true meaning of resilience and grit. Today, I channel that same dedication and steady hand into every piece of timber I touch.
Back at the Bench
Returning to my workshop felt like finding my way home. I’ve shifted my focus to working exclusively with reclaimed Australian hardwoods. I love the process of breathing new life into old wood, highlighting the unique character and history etched into every grain.
Where I'm At Now
You can now find me busy at Vando’s Woodshop in Tambo Upper, Victoria. My mission is simple: to create beautiful, functional items from recycled local materials. I build things the traditional way so they stand the test of time. Cheers for supporting a local maker.
